1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the operator of Recorrect Typing (“we”, “us”), covering the macOS app, the website and related services (the “Service”). If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you're authorized to accept these Terms for it.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and our Refund Policy explains refunds. Both form part of these Terms.
2. The Service
Recorrect Typing lets you select text in other apps and receive an AI-generated correction with explanations. Some writing languages are marked beta and may give less reliable results. We may add, change or remove features over time. If a change materially reduces what you've paid for, we'll tell you in advance.
3. Your account
- You need an account to use the Service. You sign in with your email address and a one-time code, so keep your email account secure.
- You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, to create an account.
- Use an accurate email address, keep to one account per person and don't share your account.
- Each plan limits how many devices can be signed in at once. Signing in on a new device may sign out the least recently used one. We may also limit how many accounts can be used on one device.
- You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@rectyping.com if you suspect unauthorized use.
4. Plans, credits and fair use
The free plan and paid plans include a number of credits per period, a maximum text length per check and a set of correction modes, as shown on our pricing page. A check uses credits based on its length and mode. Checks that fail on our side don't use credits. Unused credits don't roll over and have no cash value.
Credits and limits keep the Service fair and sustainable. We may change them for future periods with reasonable notice, and we may throttle or suspend use that is automated, excessive or harmful to the Service or other users.
5. Subscriptions and billing
- Waffo is our Merchant of Record. Paid plans are sold by Waffo Pancake (“Waffo”), which processes payments and handles invoices and sales taxes. Your purchase is also subject to Waffo's buyer terms.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly, until canceled.
- Prices are shown in US dollars and may exclude taxes, which are calculated at checkout. We'll notify you before a price change applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
- If a payment fails, we may keep your paid features during a short grace period while payment is retried. If it still fails, your account moves to the free plan.
- You can cancel at any time from your account. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.
6. Refunds
Refunds are handled as described in our Refund Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights you have under consumer protection laws.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to break the law, or to create or process content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing or infringes the rights of others;
- access the Service by automated means or use it as a general-purpose AI service, other than through our official apps;
- get around credits, device limits, rate limits or other restrictions, including by creating multiple accounts;
- probe, scan or test the Service for vulnerabilities, or interfere with how it runs;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the Service, except where the law expressly allows it.
8. Your content
You keep all rights to the text you check. You allow us to process it only as needed to provide the correction, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't store the text you check. If you choose to include text with feedback, you allow us to store and use that text and result to evaluate and improve the Service.
9. AI-generated output
Corrections and explanations are generated automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for your context. Review suggestions before relying on them, especially for legal, medical, financial, academic or other important communication. You're responsible for the text you choose to use.
10. Our intellectual property
The Service, including the apps, website, software, design and brand, belongs to us and our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the apps and the Service under these Terms.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties such as Apple macOS, Cloudflare, AI model providers and Waffo. Their services are governed by their own terms, and we aren't responsible for them.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we'll give you notice and a chance to fix the problem. Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
13. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to what you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
15. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law, you agree to indemnify us against reasonable claims, losses and costs arising from that use, to the extent the law allows.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of Hong Kong, unless mandatory consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings where you live.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service afterwards, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
